INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF ANTIQUARIAN BOOKSELLERS
Established in 1947, ILAB is a global federation of 22 national antiquarian booksellers associations, representing over 1600 individual rare book businesses based in 38 countries worldwide.
ILAB strives to uphold and improve professional standards in the rare book trade, promote honourable conduct in business, and to contribute in various ways to a broader appreciation of the history and art of the book.
All ILAB-affiliated booksellers worldwide abide by the ILAB Code of Usages and Customs.
Under the auspices of ILAB and run by ILAB’s member associations, international fairs are organised in America, Europe, Australia and Asia. All exhibitors are affiliated to ILAB and adhere to ILAB’s strict Code of Usages and Customs, requiring books and related material to be accurately and professionally described and to guarantee the authenticity and genuineness of all material for sale.
ILAB is taking a strong stance against theft, forgery and fraud and runs the ILAB Missing Books Register (www.missingbooksregister.org), a platform developed for any person or institution handling rare books and antiquarian material to report and register stolen or missing items.
