SYNDICAT NATIONAL DES ANTIQUAIRES
The Syndicat National des Antiquaires (SNA) is one of the oldest associations of antique and art dealers in France. Its mission is to defend and promote the profession of antique dealer both in France and internationally. The SNA brings together nearly 300 members centered around a powerful code of ethics based on the principles of Authenticity - Quality - Honorability.
As the recognized interface between its members and the legislator, the SNA is the main voice of the trade and works to raise awareness with public authorities on the need and means to preserve the vitality of the French art market worldwide.
Antique dealers and art galleries are key players and essential guarantors in the preservation of humanity’s ancestral heritage. Through knowledge and investment, expertise and specialization, the trade contributes at the highest level to the improvement and dissemination of artistic, historical and technical knowledge. Antique dealers and art dealers actively participate in the world-wide cultural and economic influence of France by bringing their dynamism to the development of their industrie linked to culture, art, education and tourism.
One of the foremost public aspects of this development is the organization, by the SNA of the flagship French art and antiques fairs - La Biennale Paris.
Another important contribution by the Syndicat National des Antiquaires is the prestigious SNA Art Book Prize in association with the official bookshop of the Louvre Museum. This prize of 10,000 euros is awarded each year since 2001 to the author of an illustrated book devoted to art.
The SNA organizes a number of events and conferences promoting and encouraging a wide interest in art. With speakers of the highest degree of expertise, the SNA offers a series of free lectures accessible to all on the various and varied subjects of the world of art.
The SNA, in association with other French and international professional associations such as the Conseil National du Marché de l’Art (CNMA) and the Confederation International de Négociants en Œuvres d'Art (CINOA), actively defends the rights and the future of the trade at the national, European and international levels.
