Alastair Dickenson Ltd
Alastair Dickenson started buying and selling fine silver in Jermyn Street in 1996, having previously spent 11 years at Phillips Auctioneers as cataloguer and auctioneer and 12 years as Director and head of Asprey's silver department. He served on the Court of the Company of Art Scholars, Dealers and Collectors and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, where he is a member of the Antique Plate Committee that adjudicates on all questionable silver sent for examination.
He has been chairman of the silver vetting committee at both Summer and Winter Olympia fairs and continues to vet at Masterpiece. His participation in the ever popular Antiques Roadshow now extends to over 20 years.
Alastair Dickenson Ltd is run by Alastair and his long-suffering co-director Melanie Cuchet. They are “by appointment†only and concentrate on the fine and the rare. Particular areas of speciality are early silver from the 16th and 17th centuries, Paul De Lamerie and other great Huguenot makers, Paul Storr and small collectibles such as vinaigrettes, card cases, snuff boxes, wine labels and caddy spoons.
In recent years they have substantially increased their involvement in Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts silver, particularly by such makers or designers as Ramsden, Knox and Ashbee.
