Berwald Oriental Art
Berwald Oriental Art specialises in Chinese ceramics, sculpture and works of art from the Han through to the Qing dynasty. From the earlier periods the company has an extensive selection of glazed and painted vessels and figures. From the later periods the emphasis is on famille verte and blue and white from the Kangxi and Transitional periods and Imperial porcelain.
John Berwald established Berwald Oriental Art in 1986 opening a gallery in Kensington Church Street a few years later. In 2005, to take advantage of the strength of the Chinese market in America, he opened a gallery on 57th Street in New York. After six successful years John decided to relocate the company back to London and has now established his new premises on Clifford Street in Mayfair.
John regularly holds special exhibitions in both London and New York, sometimes to coincide with Asian Art in London or Asia Week in New York.
