Messum’s
Founded by David Messum in 1963, Messum's are a second-generation family firm of art dealers specialising in British art from 1750 to the present day. For over 40 years Messum's have pioneered the research and re-evaluation of important periods in British painting, and are particularly known for having led the market in the re-appraisal of the British Impressionist artists, along with the Newlyn and St Ives schools of painting. Today Messum's continues to be recognised as a leader in the field of British art.
Messum's principal gallery has been based at 8 Cork Street, in the heart of London's premier art district, since 1993. From there Messum's offer a broad inventory of fine British art from the past three centuries.
Their first floor gallery at 9 Cork Street houses our ever-changing collection of earlier works, with a selection of Victorian & traditional, British Impressionist & modern British paintings always on display.
Messum's also represents some of the best figurative artists working in Britain today, promoting a tradition of fine painting that they see as the backbone to British art through the centuries. Exhibitions of work by contemporary artists are typically on view at the 8 Cork Street gallery.
The gallery has extensive experience in helping collectors to build their collections, and their specialists are available to offer professional expertise and advice in the buying and selling of fine art.
