Raffety Ltd
Nigel Raffety first set up his business in Kensington Church Street in 1979, selling the finest 17th- and 18th-century English and European clocks and barometers as well as fine 18th-century furniture. After more than 30 years in Kensington he moved to Devon in 2018, setting up a new showroom and continues to offer clients the finest advice and support with their collecting interests.
Nigel began his career in horology by undertaking one of the last clock-making apprenticeships in Clerkenwell before moving on to Christie's, where he valued and catalogued historic clocks for auction in their international salesrooms.
The shop showcases some of the finest examples of horology by historically renowned makers including Quare, Delander, and Knibb, among many others. The collection includes ebony bracket clocks, musical clocks, regulators, Chinoiserie tavern clocks, and a stunning variety of longcase clocks dating from the reigns of William & Mary to Queen Victoria. There are also barometers spanning a range of periods and styles from the 1690s to the1840s, as well as one, two and eight day marine chronometers.
Juxtaposed next to these are excellent examples of the furniture makers art, ranging from a 17th- century chests of drawers with oyster veneers to a fine Georgian burr yew breakfast table.
All their clocks are in full working order and come with a one year guarantee. Raffety deliver free of charge in the UK and can arrange door to door shipping throughout the world.
