Camburn Fine Art France
After an arts-orientated education at King's School Canterbury and Oriel College Oxford, in 1979 Stephen Camburn trained as an art dealer at Windsor & Eton Fine Art specialising in the paintings and prints of John Piper and other modern British and contemporary artists.
After twenty years in art publishing which included fine art, antiques and the applied arts, Stephen Camburn established Camburn Fine Art; and in 2008 moved to France, south of the Loire Valley where the gallery is now based.
Stephen Camburn exhibits regularly in London Mayfair, as well as the LAPADA Art and Antiques Fair in Berkeley Square, the Chelsea Art Fair, and Works on Paper. As a result, he has built up a loyal circle of clients and collectors worldwide from Delhi to Buenos Aires. The galleries in France, based just south of the Loire Valley, are open by appointment; and here clients can view a large selection of art works by a number of artists.
The artists Stephen Camburn represents demonstrate a thorough technical mastery of the medium as well as genuine inspiration which can stand comparison with museum-quality art of today and tomorrow. The insistence on superb technique is the sine qua non of all work promoted by the gallery since it is only through technical mastery that creative risks can be taken: for example, the compelling assymetry of Peyrat's large ceramic vessels, the dramatic brushwork of Halliday's canvases, or the sharp focus and colouring of Texier's pastel painting.
