Dierking – Galerie am Paradeplatz
The company was founded in 2002 by Dierk Dierking as an art dealership specializing in non-European art, located in Cologne. The juxtaposition and connection of art from Africa, Oceania, and Asia with works of classical modernism and post-war art have been central concerns from the very beginning.
In 2013, the business was relocated to Switzerland, and the Gallery founded in 1988 at Paradeplatz in Zurich was acquired. Since then, dealing in post-war art and traditional gallery work with selected contemporary artists have become the main focus of their activities.
The company trades both in its own name and on commission with works of classical modernism and European/American post-war art. Additionally, they manage and acquire estates to conduct scholarly research on and make accessible to the public the works of forgotten or less recognized artists.
In the field of classical art from Africa and Oceania, the gallery places emphasis on the aesthetic, distinctive quality, provenance, and period of origin of individual objects. In the rapidly changing art world, they strive to follow a carefully evolving program and concept. The works of the selected contemporary artists connect and expand upon their historical gallery program.
