Jean-David Cahn
The Cahn Gallery was founded in 1999 and continues a proud family tradition that dates back over 150 years. The gallery is led by classical archaeologist Jean-David Cahn, who represents the fourth generation of his family dealing in ancient artworks, and is supported by an international team of archaeologists. The gallery specializes in ancient Greek and Roman art, boasting an extensive repertoire of artworks, including sculptures, vases, glassware, gemstones, jewelry, and coins.
The Cahn Gallery participates annually in international art fairs, including TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, Munich Highlights, and Frieze Masters in London. Their clientele includes private collectors from around the world as well as renowned international museums. A selection of artworks is displayed at the gallery in Basel, Malzgasse 23. Throughout the year, the gallery organizes various thematic exhibitions, such as “Animals and Hybrids in Antiquity,” participates in Antike in Basel, and collaborates with contemporary artists featured at Art Basel.
The Cahn Gallery takes pride in its professionalism and expertise, publishing a quarterly publication featuring contributions from numerous scholars, field archaeologists, and policymakers. They also support international seminars on archaeology and antiquity and actively participate in them.
